Prostate Cancer Risk Test
Biomarkers

What does it check?

  • Total prostate-specific antigen (PSA): a protein produced by the prostate
  • Additional protein markers: markers of inflammation and growth used in the laboratory's risk calculation
  • Prostate cancer risk score: calculated from the panel results
  • Free PSA: also tested if total PSA is raised, according to the laboratory's criteria
Suitability

Who may benefit?

👥Is this right for you?

Men over 40 or those with a family history of prostate cancer who are seeking a more detailed assessment than a standard PSA test alone, with results interpreted alongside their symptoms, medical history and family history.

ℹ

Important information

This test cannot diagnose or rule out prostate cancer. A higher risk score does not confirm cancer, and a lower score does not exclude it.

PSA can rise because of an enlarged prostate, infection or inflammation. Further assessment, such as an MRI scan or biopsy, may be needed.

This is not a genetic test and does not predict your lifetime risk of prostate cancer. If you have urinary symptoms or blood in your urine, seek medical advice rather than waiting for this test.
