Extended Lipids Profile
A detailed blood test assessing cholesterol, blood fats and additional markers to help evaluate your cardiovascular risk alongside your medical history, blood pressure and lifestyle. This profile may be useful if you have raised cholesterol, a family history of early heart disease or have been advised to have a more detailed assessment.
What does it check?
- Cholesterol and triglycerides: Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, total cholesterol/HDL ratio and triglycerides
- Apolipoproteins: A-I, B, B/A-I ratio, C-II, C-III and E — proteins involved in transporting fats around the body
- Additional lipid markers: Small LDL cholesterol and lipoprotein(a)
- High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP): A marker of inflammation, interpreted alongside your history and other results
Who may benefit?
This profile may suit individuals with raised cholesterol, a family history of early heart disease, or those who have been advised to have a more detailed cardiovascular assessment alongside their medical history, blood pressure and lifestyle.
Before your appointment
- Morning appointments only.
- We will confirm whether fasting is needed and for how long. If fasting, drink plain water only.
- Contact us before fasting if you have diabetes or take medicines requiring food.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and strenuous exercise on the morning of your test.
- Tell us about recent illness or infection, as this can affect results and testing may need to be delayed.
- Tell us about medicines and supplements. Do not stop prescribed medication without advice.
Results and follow-up
A clinician will review your results, explain the findings and advise on next steps. These may include lifestyle advice, further investigations or discussing treatment with your usual clinician. A telephone consultation with Dr Iqbal, our GP and Medical Director, is included where clinically required, at no additional charge. If appropriate, we may recommend follow-up with your own GP. With your consent, we can share your results and a clinical summary.
£149 includes blood collection, laboratory testing, clinician review and an explanation of your results, with a GP telephone consultation where clinically required. A £25 booking deposit is deducted from the total, leaving £124 payable at your appointment. A separate initial consultation to assess symptoms or choose tests is not included. Any additional consultations, investigations or treatment will be discussed and priced before proceeding.

Important information
This profile contributes to cardiovascular risk assessment. It cannot diagnose blocked arteries or predict with certainty whether you will have a heart attack or stroke.
Results must be considered alongside other risk factors, including blood pressure, smoking, diabetes and family history.
Raised hs-CRP can reflect infection or other inflammation and does not necessarily indicate heart disease.
