Autoimmune Detection Panel — Type 1 Diabetes & Coeliac Disease
A specialist blood test combining antibody testing with selected genetic markers associated with type 1 diabetes and coeliac disease. Results can help assess whether further investigation or monitoring is appropriate. What does it check?
- Type 1 diabetes antibodies: GAD65, IA-2, ZnT8 and insulin antibodies
- Coeliac disease antibodies: Tissue transglutaminase antibodies
- Genetic markers: Selected variants associated with susceptibility to type 1 diabetes and coeliac disease
Who may benefit?
This panel may suit individuals with symptoms, a personal history or a family history suggesting possible type 1 diabetes or coeliac disease, where a specialist assessment of autoimmune and genetic markers could help guide further investigation or monitoring.
Before your appointment
- Morning appointments only. Fasting is not normally required unless advised.
- If you eat a normal gluten-containing diet, continue eating gluten in more than one meal daily for at least six weeks before testing.
- If you have reduced or stopped gluten, contact us before booking. Do not reintroduce foods that caused a suspected allergic reaction without medical advice.
- Continue eating gluten until any further coeliac investigations are complete, unless your clinician advises otherwise.
- Tell us about medicines and supplements, particularly current or previous insulin treatment, as this can affect insulin antibody interpretation. Do not stop prescribed treatment without advice.
Results and follow-up
A clinician will review your results, explain the findings and advise on any further investigations or monitoring needed. A telephone consultation with Dr Iqbal, our GP and Medical Director, is included where clinically required, at no additional charge. If specialist assessment is needed, we may advise you to contact your own GP for referral to diabetes or gastroenterology services. With your consent, we can share your results and a clinical summary.
£339 includes blood collection, laboratory testing, clinician review and an explanation of your results, with a GP telephone consultation where clinically required. A £25 booking deposit is deducted from the total, leaving £314 payable at your appointment. A separate initial consultation to assess symptoms or choose tests is not included. Any additional consultations, investigations or treatment will be discussed and priced before proceeding.

Important information
This panel is not a general screen for all autoimmune conditions.
Genetic susceptibility does not mean you currently have, or will definitely develop, either condition. Antibody findings require clinical interpretation, and further tests may be needed. A negative result cannot exclude every case.
If you develop marked thirst, frequent urination or unexplained weight loss, seek urgent advice from your GP or NHS 111 rather than waiting for this test.
